Battery and Small Electronics Collection Day – Radio Reflex

The Bebat-Recupel mobile collection point will be at Veemarkt in Mechelen on September 27. During the Back-Friday campaign, the partners challenge consumers to collect as many electrical appliances, lamps and dead batteries as possible. By participating in Back Friday, consumers help reduce waste.

“Every family has an average of 30 dead batteries and 11 devices with a plug or battery in their home. Raw materials that can be recycled and reused. That’s why Bebat and Recupel are launching a “Back-Friday” campaign, where they will visit as many Belgian cities as possible from September 25 to October 23 to collect as many batteries as possible. Make sure you bring your own batteries or electrical appliances. At each collection point, a qualified repairman will be ready to disassemble the returned devices, safely remove the dead batteries and assess whether they can be repaired. This fits perfectly with our city’s vision of circularity and the circular economy: reusable raw materials are key to a sustainable system. Devices that can still be reused are given a new home through local thrift shops. To further boost the campaign, Bebat and Recupel will also be planting trees. The more electronic devices they collect, the more trees they will plant. Make sure to visit Veemarkt on Friday, they are there from 10 am to 6 pm!”, says Climate and Environment Councillor Patrick Princeton.

Back Friday

Bebat and Recupel, collection points for spent batteries and electronics, are stepping up their efforts with a new mobile collection point that will visit 24 different locations in Belgium between September 25 and October 23. The mobile collection point will collect spent batteries and unused electronics. A technician on site will remove the batteries and also give passersby practical advice on how to prolong the life of their devices or collect them safely. Of course, the usual Bebat and Recupel collection points will also remain available during this campaign.
