A close aide to US President Joe Biden has been suspended from work for a week for threatening Politico’s journalist. Spokeswoman Jin Saki confirmed during a press conference that she is an employee in her department, Deputy Spokesman TJ Daclo.
In a telephone conversation with journalist Tara Palmeri, Daclo was alleged to have said that he would “destroy it”. Palmeri recently wrote about Ducklo’s relationship with Alexi McCammond, an Axios journalist.
According to Vanity Fair, Ducklo could have made derogatory comments about women during a conversation with Palmeri. He is said to have said that she was jealous of his relationship with McCamond.
Biden has often stated that he is taking tough action against his employees who belittle others. “If I hear that you do not treat someone with respect or disrespect someone, I will immediately fire you,” Biden told his team shortly after his inauguration.
According to Psaki, Ducklo knows he made a mistake and apologized to Palmeri.
Ducklo stopped working with Politico reporters after being discontinued.
