Fairphone upgrades six-year-old smartphone to Android 10

VerfoneThe Dutch sustainable smartphone manufacturer has released an Android 10 update for the Fairphone 2, which is more than six years old. The upgrade has been tested by the company since the end of last year, but is now available to everyone made available

Users can install the upgrade using Fairphone’updatedor flash the new Fairphone OS/Open version manually via computer.

Fairphone 2 released in 2015 with Android 5 and over the years has come with upgrades to Android 6, 7.1, and 9. This new upgrade is the result of Fairphone’s collaboration with the open source community. Fairphone got help from the developers of an alternative Android platform known as LineageOS, who got the old Fairphone 2 chip Snapdragon 801 running in Android 10.

To celebrate the release, Fairphone organizes free Web Talk About sustainable software on smartphones.
