Helldivers 2 director defends Elden Ring’s difficulty

Elden Ring is a challenging game, which is no surprise to fans of FromSoftware’s games. The developer has been releasing incredibly difficult games for years. However, for many, the difficulty in Elden Ring’s new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was a step too far. Helldivers 2 director Johan Billstadt has shared his thoughts on the matter.

Shadow of the Erdtree has been out for over a week. Although many people love DLC, there are also many players who complain about DLC. According to many players, the DLC is too difficult, especially compared to the base game. This has caused many players to give the DLC a low score on Steam.

Helldivers 2 director Johan Billstadt responded to a post on X. He responded to a user who pointed out that the game’s design would only appeal to a specific target group. User reported feeling unsatisfied after defeating a boss in Dark Souls. Belstadt then responded and pointed out, “It’s a game for everyone, it’s a game for no one.” He believes that games should focus on a specific target group.

Especially when it comes to games from FromSoftware, it’s not hard to say that they’re aimed at a specific target group. They’re ultimately very difficult games where you often have to fail dozens of times before you finally have enough knowledge to defeat the boss. Not everyone has the patience for this or likes it. If FromSoftware games were much easier, they probably wouldn’t be as popular as they are today.
