The next major release from Guerrilla Games is not Horizon 3, but the online component of the franchise. At least if we can believe Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier. Schreier revealed Sony’s plans during a recent episode of the Spawn Wave podcast.
“Horizon Online is the next project from Guerrilla Games, not the third single-player game in the series,” a Bloomberg journalist revealed (around 56:40 in the video below). It does not seem that the final part of the trilogy will appear in the near future. According to Schreier, “a lot of people” are working on the game online.
Guerrilla Games revealed in December 2022 that it was working on an online game set in the Horizon universe. This project will introduce a series of new characters and will have a “unique stylized look.” No further details have followed since. And the release date is completely missing as well.
The game is part of Sony’s streaming service. Although we hope the title does better than Sony’s previous attempts to break into the genre. Concord was removed from shelves after two weeks and The Last of Us online multiplayer game was also cancelled. The only game that has done well so far is Helldivers 2.
Whether Horizon Online will achieve the same success? Fingers crossed!
