“Many brands use the vegan label primarily as marketing, because there’s this idea that vegans are healthier,” says Sells. But vegan food isn’t necessarily healthier. There are chips that now suddenly have a vegan label, while chips have been made with potatoes for years, so it’s not from animal foods. These chips are not healthy because they still contain salts and fats. But it’s sold because people think it’s healthier.”
If you want to eat healthy, it’s best to choose a fish burger rather than a veggie burger, according to Sales. He thinks prepackaged veggie burgers don’t deserve their name. “It’s a processed food, and it’s often baked as well, and it has fewer nutrients than cod, for example.”
But as a vegetarian, you get all the necessary nutrients fully and responsibly, concludes the dietitian. You should only take vitamin B12 supplements as a vegan.

It is often seen that people can cut out meat or sugar for a short time, for example, but they often relapse and give up their diet again. Then they resort to the food that they denied themselves.

So what is healthy? He says moderation is the secret to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. You don’t have to cut meat or stop yourself from eating right away, but “make vegetables the star of your plate,” says the dietitian.
Currently, approximately 60% of the proteins in our plate are animal and 40% are vegetable. If we want to change that, that’s 40% animal protein and 60% plant protein, we’re really on our way, according to the dietitian. “Then we all become a better version of ourselves.”
