Rescue ship Ocean Viking picks up 21 migrants in the Mediterranean | abroad

The Ocean Viking rescue ship has picked up 21 people who were on a boat in distress in the Mediterranean. The NGO reported this Saturday evening. The fiberglass ship had a problem in the middle of the Mediterranean. Four out of 21 are unaccompanied minors.

The Ocean Viking now has 65 rescued people on board. The ship has been operating in that central part of the Mediterranean for the past few days. As always, they rescue migrants and asylum seekers crossing from North Africa into the European Union in rickety boats.

And the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees stated, on Saturday evening, that the Libyan Coast Guard arrested more than 120 people and returned them to Libya.

For many others, the crossing may have ended in disaster. At least 43 people are missing after their ship went down overnight from Friday to Saturday off Tunisia in the Mediterranean. The Tunisian Red Crescent said the ship was carrying 127 migrants and refugees trying to reach Europe.
