CNN will not fire host Andy Cohen for some offensive remarks during its traditional New Year’s Eve broadcast. It appears that Cohen was intoxicated during the broadcast, and he shot several celebrities.

Andy Cohen hit the epicenter of the storm last weekend when the host made some eye-catching remarks during CNN’s traditional New Year’s broadcast, live from New York’s Times Square. Cohen drank several shots of tequila at the start of the broadcast – along with co-host Anderson Cooper. That wasn’t a great idea, because Cohen apparently totally took off after that: He insulted several celebrities during the broadcast, such as Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg and former New York mayor Bill de Blasio.

Cohen admitted the next day that he was “a touch over tea water,” but he did not retract his statements. He said he only regrets insulting host Ryan Seacrest on ABC’s competing New Year’s Eve show. “Smoke is coming out of the group losers From Ryan Seacrest, here behind us,” Cohen said during the broadcast. “I think Ryan is a great guy, and I’m sorry about that. I was just stupid and drunk.”

Although many CNN viewers laughed at Cohen’s remarks, and also announced them on social media during the broadcast, there were calls for Cohen to be fired. It won’t come to that, quite the opposite: CNN has already announced that Cohen could also deliver a New Year’s Eve broadcast next year.
