A video shared on social media on Saturday shows some of the 39 students who were kidnapped from their school on March 11th. The photos show how armed men attack the youngsters. This is the fourth time in three months that a school in Nigeria has been attacked and students kidnapped.

Bandits, as authorities call attackers, have been attacking villages, stealing livestock and kidnapping people for ransom a decade ago. In the past few months, they seem to have shifted attention to schools. The attacks will not be motivated by ideology or religion, but only for ransom.

A high school targeted in Mando, Kaduna state, Thursday, March 11th. At the time of the attack, there were about 200 students and teachers in the school – all of the children were 17 years of age or older.

The security forces were promptly notified and quickly reached the site to fight the attackers. “The soldiers were able to rescue 180 people, 42 students, 130 students and 8 employees,” said a statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kaduna. “About 30 students are still missing.”
