Students from Turnhout Talent School today took part in “Rondje Rest”, an educational package through which they reflect on their well-being and learn how to develop.
The package fits into a 10-day mental health programme. Logo Kempen, Beguinage Museum Turnhout and Welfare Turnhout also presented the program for the 10-day event at Kempen.
The Beguinage Museum in Turnhout has developed an educational package on mindfulness for the second and third years of secondary education. The “Rondje Rest” is a permanent display where students can reflect on their well-being during an inspiring visit to the Turnhout beguinage area.
With an accompanying booklet full of tasks, they discover their beginning as a quiet place, reflect on the environment and themselves, and are given a number of tools to stimulate their development. Then, students share their experiences with their classmates.
Today a group of students from Turnhout Talent School had the opportunity to complete their first ‘comfort round’. The students were very enthusiastic and showed great interest. Some of the reactions we gathered afterwards were:
- “It was nice and nice to be quiet for a moment.”
- “It was nice to think about something else for a while, and this place leaves an impression.”
- “I like to feel the history and tranquility of the place.”
Although there is a slightly more important note:
- “I can’t stand the silence, and then I immediately start laughing.”
- “It was nice and quiet, but I’m hungry now.”
10 days of mental health
The Rest Tour fits perfectly into the 10 Mental Health Days (October 1-10). Under the slogan “Resilient Together”, the Flemish logos, the Flemish Institute for Healthy Living and Te Gek!? Annually highlights the importance of good mental health.
We are also counting down the 10 days until October 10: World Mental Health Day or “World Mental Health Day”.
In 2024 and 2025, the theme of the 10-day event will be “Coping with Difficult Periods.” The logo of Kempen and the joint prevention workers between municipalities and local authorities highlights places of peace and tranquility to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
In places of peace and quiet, a physical space is created to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is a place where you can sit quietly, relax, think or enjoy the silence. The playgrounds are located in a quiet area. There are places of peace and quiet in nature, but there are also quiet spaces in buildings. Turnhout Beguinage is one of the many quiet places in the Kempen area.
During the 10-day Mental Health Day, you will receive your bread in a special 10-day bread bag from a number of bakers in Kempen. This bread bag campaign, created by the inter-municipal prevention workers, shows the residents of Kempen the way to the Healthy Kempen site, where all the places of rest and peace and other activities organized by the local authorities in Kempen are collected. Because all local authorities enthusiastically started organizing activities in their municipality or city!
