The UK and France maintain their confidence in the AstraZeneca vaccine

Al-Zahawi writes that the British government “trusts” its current vaccination plan and “the protection it will provide us all against this terrible disease”. “We have to realize that the vaccine can still be effective against serious diseases, hospitalization and death, even if it is less effective in preventing infection,” he added.

French Health Minister Ferrand said on Monday during his vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine that the vaccine is completely reliable and provides adequate protection against almost all types of Coronavirus.

On Sunday, the Financial Times reported that the vaccine from the British-Swedish company and the University of Oxford provides only limited protection against mild and moderate illnesses caused by the Coronavirus.

AstraZeneca has already said that the study in question was conducted on 2,000 healthy young people and that the company is confident that the vaccine will protect people from dangerous diseases because it produces antibodies similar to other vaccines against the virus.

Meanwhile, the South African authorities announced that they are temporarily suspending the AstraZeneca vaccination program.

According to British Deputy Health Secretary Edward Argar, 147 infections of the South African variant have been identified in the UK.
