Treyarch is posting job openings for The Zombie Project

This is evident from the new vacancies published by the company. Zombies lead designer Kevin Drew added in a tweet that they have big plans at Treyarch for Zombies and therefore want to grow the team to make those plans a reality.

And with big plans, Drew likely won’t be suggesting a new epic mode for the next Call of Duty game. Journalist Tom Henderson reported in February 2021 that a zombie game unrelated to the Call of Duty title is in development. It states that it is a separate address. A month later, Henderson made the same announcement: “Big things are planned for zombies. It won’t just be a ‘third game mode’ for long.” So it might be obvious that we will finally get a full game of Zombies in the world of Call of Duty. When it will be revealed or will appear, remains to be seen.

The game could be released next year, with Activision turning a year for the first time since 2005. So there will be no Call of Duty in 2023, leaving some space for shooting fanatics among us. Perhaps Treyarch will fill that gap by launching a standalone zombie game. But this will take some time, of course we will first get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, developed by Infinity Ward.
