Former US President Donald Trump told Republican supporters he would help secure seats in Congress in the 2022 mid-term elections. Republican sponsors gathered Saturday for dinner at Trump’s exclusive Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
“We met tonight to talk about the future of the Republican Party and what we need to do to help our candidates win,” Reuters news agency, which acknowledged the former president’s speech, was quoted as saying. “I am here tonight with complete confidence that in 2022 we will restore the House of Representatives (liberated) and restore the Senate. And then in 2024, the Republican candidate will win the White House.”
Especially for the Democrats, who now enjoy a slight majority in both houses, much is at stake. If they lose, it will be difficult for Biden to implement his policy
It was not clear if Trump was referring to himself with that last sentence. He said earlier that he could not rule out his candidacy for the presidency again. Last year, Trump lost the election to Democrat Joe Biden. Within the Republican Party, however, there are more candidates who would like Biden to take over in 3.5 years, such as his nominee Former Racing Teammate Mike PenceFormer Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo And Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Before that, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives (the House of Representatives) and 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate (the Senate) will be voted on in November 2022. Especially for the Democrats, who now enjoy a slight majority in both houses, much is at stake. If they lose, it will be difficult for Biden to implement his policy.
