XDefiant is not doing well, according to Yves Guillemot

A while ago, Ubisoft denied that things were going badly with XDefiant, but CEO Yves Guillemot has now contradicted that.

According to the boss, the game does not meet the company’s expectations. He reveals this in a conversation with investors (via Indoor games). One investor wanted to know if there were any other games outside of Star Wars Outlaws that didn’t meet expectations.

“Mainly due to lower than expected sales of Star Wars Outlaws,” Guillemot begins his answer. “We also had higher expectations for XDefiant. We will provide more details on that at the end of October.” The CEO assures us it’s not as bad as the Outlaws. “To a much lesser extent and with less effect.”

The contrast with the previous shareholders meeting is significant. At that time, Guillemot could still boast of XDefiant. After release the game went really well. In a short time, the shooter withdrew At least eleven million unique players. Things aren’t going that smoothly anymore, although developer Ubisoft San Francisco says so That the game never dies.

XDefiant is a 6v6 style first-person shooter, where different factions compete against each other. These factions are based on other Ubisoft franchises. These are Libertad (Far Cry), Echelon (Splinter Cell), Cleaners (The Division), Dedsec (Watch Dogs), and Phantoms (Ghost Recon).

The game can be played on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
