New Pixel watch leak shows old Wear OS 3.1

Notable leak: The new Pixel Watch appears to run on Wear OS 3.1, an older version of Google’s wearable operating system. The leak comes from a reliable commodity, Evan Blass (evleaks).

Pixel Rohan

Apparently he has obtained or found images on a server that there is an inactive tutorial for ‘Pixel Rohan’. It’s already known that the working title of the first Google Pixel wearable phone is Rohan, so it’s likely he’s right. Although the leak is not very interesting due to the lack of an image of the device, one more thing that stands out is that the smartwatch does not run on a recent version of Wear OS, but on the outdated version 3.1.

Blass seems to know that it won’t be long now before we get to see Pixel Rohan in real life, which may add in itself given the upcoming Google I/O on May 11. It would be great if Google launched the new smartwatch there, but whether we should be too happy with this old version of Wear OS developed by Google is another matter.

WearOS 3.1

Wearable devices on Wear OS are currently using Wear OS 3.2. It’s been around since February and it’s already available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. This makes it seem like the interactive tutorial is just some kind of beta, because the Google Pixel Watch should almost run on Wear OS 3.2?

We were very happy with Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Wear OS: “Owned by Google and Samsung in May They announced that they are working together on a new operating system for smartwatches: Wear OS 3. The Galaxy Watch 4 series runs on One UI Watch, which is based on Wear OS 3 and has a number of new capabilities. For example, compatible apps automatically appear on your smartwatch as soon as you download them to your smartphone. Plus, your most important settings are synced to the watch instantly. Auto Switching ensures that you switch directly between your phone and the watch using the earbuds.”
