Everyone at Microsoft was very wary when asked about the future of Call of Duty on PlayStation after the company announced its intention to buy Activision Blizzard. Since Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, in March he said that They will launch Call of Duty and other major franchises “outside the current agreement and into the future,” like people Phil Spencer I settled on “a few more years” and similar data leaves plenty of room for interpretation. There seems to be a good reason for that.
PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has gamesindustry.biz He issued a statement claiming that it was Microsoft’s offer to continue releasing Call of Duty games on PlayStation for 3 years following the current agreement with Activision. An offer he says is “inadequate in many ways”.
To underscore how this argument came to be Kindergarten, Ryan offers this reason to speak now:
“I wasn’t going to comment on what I understood as a private business discussion, but I feel the need to get things right because Phil Spencer submitted this to the public forum.”
You can be pretty sure Microsoft will make a fresh comment because of this, as Ryan’s statement is one of the latest efforts to get the various competition organizers around the world to block Activision Blizzard from becoming part of Xbox Game Studios.
