Now that we are increasingly indoors, it is more important than ever to have enough daylight in our buildings. On March 11th, NEN is organizing a free webinar with NSVV and Dutch Daylight, which explains why daylight is important and how the new identification method works. You can register here.

The webinar was organized to learn about Dutch practice guidelines in daylight in buildings (NPR 4057). This NPR was developed to explain NEN-EN 17037 “Daylight in Buildings” (successor to the current daylight standard NEN 2057). European standard NEN-EN 17037 works with daylight factors. This is different, but more appropriate, than the current equivalent daylight area.

Two experts in the field of daylight provide updated information on daylight during the webinar. Marielle Arts of Eindhoven University of Technology explains the effects of daylight on people from a scientific perspective. Gertjan Verbaan of DGMR, Chair of the Standardized Daylight Working Group, explains the identification method. The webinar runs from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and everyone will have ample opportunity to ask questions.

The webinar is for architects, interior designers, lighting designers and technical consultants because the daylight factors are more subtle and visually indicate where the dark and light spots are. Project developers, facility managers, and occupational health and safety services after the webinar can explain the effects of daylight on health, productivity and well-being. Municipal building and housing supervision can prepare for solutions similar to daylight factors. In addition, the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations plans to include this new method in the Buildings Decree in the Living Environment (“successor” to the building decision). It is interesting for TU, Hogeschool and MBO in-house courses to keep up to date with the latest developments.
