Eight out of ten Brussels residents believe that access to healthcare is unequal

Nearly half of Brussels residents (47 percent) are willing to pay more taxes to improve the quality of care for all.

In addition to concerns about inequality, the environment plays an increasingly important role when it comes to health, according to Brussels residents surveyed. Participants cited mobility (45 percent) and energy crisis (46 percent) as important factors affecting their health. Housing quality is also viewed as a health risk by 39 percent of respondents.

We look forward to 2050

60% of respondents expect climate change to have a major impact on their health by 2050. Seven in ten residents attach importance to green spaces such as parks and other nature reserves, which they believe have a positive impact on their well-being. A third of Brussels residents support more of these types of spaces in the city. In addition, 19% of Brussels residents suggest reducing car traffic in the city.

During a conference on October 2 and 3, experts and stakeholders from various fields will discuss the survey results. They will explore innovative solutions to the challenges facing healthcare in Brussels. Topics such as technology, mobility and combating climate change are key.
