If you purchased some cool skins for your PlayStation 5 Slim, and are also planning to use them for your PlayStation 5 Pro when it launches on November 7, we have some unfortunate news. Although they are the same size, they do not fit together.
A Reddit user Calling himself Zrorro, he writes that he had the opportunity to try it, but that it was not possible:
“I had some cobalt blue panels, so I decided to try them out on the Pro and I can confirm that the bottom panels match the Slim. However, the top panels don’t match because even though they are physically the same size, the teeth on the system are connected in places A little different so you can’t connect the top together.
I’m just telling you all this so you all know and don’t bother ordering panels for the Slim to use on the Pro.”
IGN I contacted Sony to confirm and was told that “PS5 controller covers are not compatible with PS5 Pro.” Sony also confirms that there will be special faceplates for the PlayStation 5 Pro in the future, but given the cost of the console (€799 / £699.99) we doubt it’s not an accessory that will hit shelves immediately.
