A science weekend with dinosaurs in the lead role – Ermelo Van Nou!

A paleontologist comes to Het Bajhuis

Ermelo/Region – Minister Ebo Bruins will open the Science Weekend in Arnhem on Saturday. Maybe he will have time to visit the Het Bacchus Museum in his hometown. The Het Bacchus Museum participates in this event for the first time on Saturday and holds a big deal in the presence of dinosaur researcher Jimmy De Rooij.

Het Pakhuis increasingly focuses on archaeological science and the paleontologist (dinosaurs) fits in perfectly. “If there’s anyone who knows everything about Triceratops, it’s dinosaur researcher Jamie De Rooij,” says Het Bacchus employee Jordi Luckhurst. “This paleontologist has traveled to Wyoming several times to excavate dinosaur fossils. “I am mainly interested in research into dinosaurs, specifically Triceratops,” says de Rooij.

Extinct

The paleontologist earned his PhD six months ago, has conducted extensive research at Naturalis and is now strengthening the team at the De Bastei Museum in Nijmegen. “I have always been amazed by the wide range of shapes and sizes that animals come in. To me, many extinct animals seem like creatures from another world,” says de Rooij. At Naturalis he had the opportunity to really study Triceratops. “My research focuses on the growth and development And the behavior of horned dinosaurs. By combining the latest technologies, I am trying to discover how these dinosaurs lived their lives!”

Mammoth

A visit to the Het Bacchus Museum is very special for a paleontologist. “It’s good to introduce kids to science in their own environment this way,” says Luckhurst. “Our collection contains a skull, tusks and huge molars. They will certainly also be on display on October 5. The Tijdlab from Deventer is also in the museum. Tijdlab offers digital displays of the heritage sector. During the Science Weekend in various locations in the country, visitors get a unique insight Behind the scenes and meet real scientists Entrance to the Het Pakhuis Museum is free on October 5.
