If there’s one clown that still gives people nightmares today, it’s Pennywise. The clown was introduced in the 1990 miniseries “It,” where he terrorized the children of the town of Derry. In 2017 and 2019, Pennywise reappeared in the films “It Chapter One” and “It Chapter Two.” We’ll soon see the clown again in an HBO prequel series, but what exactly can we expect from the series?

Pennywise was first introduced to us in 1986 in Stephen King’s book “It.” The book is about a group of seven children who are terrorized by a bloodthirsty monster in the form of a dancing clown. It soon becomes clear in the book that it has been scaring the children for a long time and is being republished every 27 years. So the seven children will have to do everything they can to keep the monster at bay. In 1990, the book was adapted into a miniseries of the same name, starring Tim Curry as the terrifying clown.

In 2017 and 2019, Bill Skarsgård will return as Pennywise in the films. This is the first chapter. And It is the second chapterAlthough a miniseries and two movies have already been produced on the subject, there is one question that has never been answered: How exactly did Pennywise appear? In the HBO series Welcome to Derry We will finally get an answer to this question. The series was actually supposed to be released in October of this year, but due to the strikes in Hollywood, the release date was pushed to next year. It is not yet clear in which month exactly the series will be released.

Rumor has it that the series will take place in the 1960s and will focus more on Pennywise’s origins, as everything that happened before the events of the first part He. She-Movie. In the second film, Pennywise’s origin is referenced frequently, but the full story remains a mystery and will therefore be revealed in the new series.

However, there was already an important hint in the first film: it was explained that Derry once started out as an alternate camp for beavers. After all 91 people in the camp signed the Derry Township Declaration, they disappeared without a trace that winter, leaving only a bloody trail of clothing leading to the old well house.

No trailer for the series has been released yet, but you can see the first images in this video:
