The October update is arriving on more Samsung phones. Today we show you the Galaxy S21 FE and the first Galaxy S20 FE devices.
Galaxy S21 FE and S20 FE updated in October 2024
With the recent launch of the Galaxy S24 FE, there are now four Fan editionDevices are on a monthly update schedule. This situation will change again soon – but more on that in a moment. Because after the Galaxy S24 FE and S23 FE previously received the October update, the Galaxy S21 FE and the first S20 FE models are now getting their turn as well.
For the Galaxy S21 FE, we see that firmware version G990BXXSAGXJ1 is available. On early 5G models of the Galaxy S20 FE, you can now download firmware G781BXXSEHXJ3. The October patch will be installed on devices, and nothing else. The patch brings, among other things, important improvements to the security of Samsung’s One UI.
stabilizing
You can now install the October update directly on Unbranded Galaxy S21 FE in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. You can also get it on all S20 FE 5G models sold in the Netherlands and Belgium. No doubt 4G models will follow soon, but – apparently – not yet.
One of the latest monthly updates
As mentioned earlier: there are currently no fewer than four Fan editionPhones on Samsung’s monthly update schedule. However, the first Galaxy S20 FE models appeared in October 2020. Indeed, that was four years ago. So we expect that Samsung will soon reduce the update frequency. This is what happened earlier this year with the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.
We hope that the update frequency will not immediately return to zero. Yes, the promised four-year update period has almost expired. But other Galaxy S20 models are now in their fifth year of updates, and are still updated every three months. With any luck the same will happen with the S20 FE. But: Only when Samsung officially adjusts the update schedule will we know what the future really looks like for Fan editionModels from the S20 series.
