The afternoon begins with a 45-minute children’s lecture Martin Resinklecturer at UvA and human zoologist. We have long believed that humans and animals cannot understand each other because animals do not have language. But this idea turned out to be wrong. Sure, they don’t understand or speak our language, but they understand more about us than we thought. So animals themselves also tell all sorts of things about what they see, think, and feel, to each other and to us. The great thing now is: through science we are beginning to better understand what goes on inside them, and this is leading to surprising new insights – about animals and about ourselves.
