Old respectable Disaster Not only is it a very style-defining game, it has made a name for itself as being playable on anything with a screen and some electronic components. So when it’s now played in a real monument – teletext* – it feels like the circle is closing.
So you can play an IT software shooter from 1993 with good old teletext graphics. Which is rare, to put it mildly. In Doom teletext, as the project is called, the game runs at a resolution of approximately 78×50 pixels, and the color range is… limited. Control then? Yes, it’s operated by the TV’s remote control (wireless, hopefully).
With the program and detailed instructions, anyone who wants to participate in this cultural activity is probably the best. On Github. It’s not easy, but that’s not important either.
*Footnote for younger readers: Teletext is an older technology that made it possible to participate in text. Very much Simple graphics on televisions. It was invented in Great Britain in the 70s and has been in Sweden since 1979. It has disappeared more and more in the last decade, but SVT. The service is still runningIt is used for news, sports, weather, entertainment and more.
