Nicki Minaj canceled a concert in Romania at the last minute on Sunday night. The rapper was scheduled to perform at the SAGA Romania Festival in Bucharest, but her security team advised her not to travel to the festival.

Minaj shared a statement on social media addressing “safety concerns.” According to the statement, this may be due to protests in the area. “As a mother, I have to make sure I make the right decisions so I can get home to my son and my team can get home to their families,” Minaj said. “I love you and thank you for your understanding and support.”

The festival said it was “shocked” by the news. “We know it is a huge disappointment for all of you, as it is for us. We thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time. We appreciate your patience and will provide further updates as soon as possible.”

The three-day SAGA festival was in the news earlier this week over a performance by Dutch DJ Hardwell. The DJ prematurely ended his set on Friday night and lashed out at the organization. Images circulating on social media show the angry DJ addressing the crowd. The festival said on Instagram that it disagreed with Hardwell’s criticism.
