Note: Movies and series available on Disney+ will vary from country to country

You would expect the content offered by Disney+ to be the same everywhere. Unlike Netflix or Amazon, for example, Disney does not (partially) rely on purchasing licenses from third parties. Disney only publishes its own content and the content of the studios it owns, including Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Fox. But not all content is the same.

Disney+ will roll out to other countries, including the UK, on March 24. But due to licensing issues for certain content, programming will differ in each location. Disney+ UK made the announcement in a statement on Twitter. We already had this expectation; Here in the Netherlands, Disney+ is not the same as in the US. The content simply varies from country to country, due to previous licenses.

Tremendous growth
The growth that Disney+ is seeing is tremendous. Since its launch in November 2019, 28 million people have subscribed to the service. This exceeded all expectations, including those of Disney itself. But according to Bob Iger, it should have been: “With our amazing portfolio of brands and exceptional content from our creative geniuses” People flock to him.

And in the near future, they will be fully committed to original content, both about Star Wars and Marvel. Soon you won’t be able to ignore it anymore.
