Sony is rolling out a new PlayStation 5 system update that includes the option to share game invites via URLs.

Sony has started rolling out system update 24.05-09.60.00 for the PlayStation 5. The update is a 1.2GB download, which is about 200MB larger than the previous update that was released in late June. The update does not appear to be mandatory at this time to be available on PlayStation Network.

The update comes with the usual system stability and performance improvements. Additionally, it is now possible to invite other players to the game by sending game invites using URLs. Additionally, it will be possible to open game help cards using a voice command. Usability in messages has been further improved and the DualSense controller has been given a stability update. Here are the full patch notes for PlayStation 5 update 24.05-09.60.00:

  • You can invite other players to game sessions by sharing the session URL.
    • To invite other players, open the game session action card and select Share Link. Then scan the QR code with your mobile device to share the link.
    • This feature is only available for open sessions that anyone can join.
    • This feature will be gradually rolled out to all players by July 24th.
  • Voice command now supports the ability to open game help action cards by saying “show game help”.
    • Currently, Voice Command (Preview) is only available in English for players with PlayStation Network accounts in the US and UK.
  • We have improved the performance and stability of system software.
  • We’ve updated the device software for some DualSense wireless controllers to improve stability.
  • We’ve improved messaging and usability on some screens.
