Walloon Formation – Independent health insurance funds happy with “promising commitments” in health

The independent health insurance funds are convinced that many of the proposals they have drafted have been included in the government announcements issued by the Walloon government and the French Community government. “The proposal is ambitious, but the new majority must demonstrate its ability to deliver on its promises,” the health insurance group said in a press release.

The coalition agreements between MR and Les Engagés include the promotion of care professions, a focus on prevention in healthcare, a support plan for informal carers, a desire to address the issue of disability and to integrate health impact analysis into all political decisions. It all seems to be about the proposals the group has drawn up in the run-up to the elections.

The independent health insurance funds are concerned about “the intention to review the recently voted decrees”, which were “the result of extensive work and negotiations with the players in the field”. In addition, the group points to “the lack of a clear budgetary commitment on health policy”, which “could limit the impact of the announced measures”.

Overall, the health insurance group says it is “positive” about the “strong” intentions in the government’s statements. It will remain “attentive” to the implementation of the policy to ensure a tangible improvement in health care in Wallonia.
