Samsung Galaxy S22 gets One UI 6.1
We’ve had to wait a while, but Samsung is finally rolling out the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra. Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 owners can also install the software.
Almost all the AI functions offered by the Galaxy S24 series will be available on these older smartphones. For example, you can remove objects from photos or edit shots and fill the background with AI. It can also remove unwanted reflections. Additionally, AI helps you summarize long articles.
Do you want to convert regular videos into slow motion? Then you’ll have to buy the Galaxy S24. This function is not coming to the S22 series or the foldable phones mentioned above.
Owners of phones from the Galaxy S21 series will be completely disappointed. They can install the One UI 6.1 update, but they only receive two AI functions. The main feature is “Circle Search”, which allows you to start a search by circling an image. They also receive assistance in composing messages and setting the tone if necessary. These features will of course also come to the S22.
Older smartphones don’t get AI
Samsung will also later make One UI 6.1 available for older (and cheaper) smartphones. Think of the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy A54. Unfortunately, they have to do without AI at all. According to the Korean manufacturer, the hardware of these phones is too slow for artificial intelligence.
