AUAS Colleges of Health, Exercise, Sport and Nutrition to be merged

“What we will do more of is vocational training. That means: mixing specialties.

“What we will do more is vocational training. That is to say: mixing disciplines. This is in line with the personal learning paths that students can choose. There are more opportunities, but they are not developed enough. We have decided on the name. This will be the College of Health, Sport and Exercise.

What points are you interested in now?

“It’s not all clear yet. There has never been a merger like this at AUAS before. We are moving to a single computer system, which is always exciting. There are still two education offices. It’s not yet clear whether there will be two.

Are there really any major cultural differences between FG and FBSV?

“These differences were greater than they are now. By the way, I think the differences between our courses are greater than the differences between our colleges. But in healthcare, it’s a bit more hierarchical, and you can see that in school as well. Especially in athletic training, students and staff are more independent. The culture of college management has been the same for some time, because there is really only one employee.”

With the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics moving, most students will soon be heading to the Health Campus, how do you maintain the athletic programs at the new college?

“My staff and I are already spread out throughout the week at our different locations. And it stays that way. It’s really important that we continue to show our faces. The distance between them is not ideal, that’s true. However, the athletic programs have all the facilities on campus, for example we don’t have any athletic fields on campus.

When will unification take effect?

“As of September 1, 2024, we will combine our efforts with the management teams of both colleges. Other mergers will follow, and finally – according to current planning – the district councils will be merged as of summer 2026.
