Beyoncé felt compelled to cut her long hair in 2013 because she was going through major changes in her life at the time. The singer told the magazine that she had undergone an “emotional transformation.” Al-Jawhar Magazine.
“Cutting my hair was a act of rebellion against the woman that society said I should be,” Beyoncé recalls. “I had just become a mother and I wanted to get rid of all those expectations.”
The 42-year-old singer recalls that her hairstylist had doubts about the drastic change. So Beyoncé decided to use scissors in her hairstyle, resulting in the so-called “pixie cut”, which is a hairstyle that is short at the back and sides of the head and slightly longer on top with very short bangs.
“This was what I had to do. And afterward I felt super brave. It was the first step of many bold decisions I’ve made in my life and career that have led to where I am today.”
