Les Passagers de la Nuit
France, 111 minutes, Directed by: Michael Herz, With: Charlotte Gainsbourg, Emmanuelle Biart, Noy Abita, Genre: Drama
In Les Passagers de la Nuit, we experience Paris in the 1980s with Charlotte Gainsbourg as Elizabeth, who has to find her way back to life after her divorce. At the same time, a new political and social era begins in France with the election of Mitterrand as president. When Elisabeth was abandoned by her husband, she was left with her two teenagers, Matthias and Judith. She finds work on a late-night radio show, where she meets wandering Tallulah. She quickly takes the displaced girl under her wing. Talulah discovers the warmth of home and Mathias feels what it’s like to be in love for the first time. As Elizabeth watches the young men, she will have to find her own worth and rediscover that life has something to offer her. Les Passagers de la Nuit is a loving portrait of a woman who must accept that she has a future.
