At the Art Hotel in Mijnsherenlaan Rotterdam-Zuid, a large fire raging broke out on Friday evening. Meanwhile, the fire is under control. This was reported by the Rotterdam Safety District Regenmund. An investigation by the fire brigade showed that the fire broke out in an air conditioner on the roof of the third floor.
How the fire started is still unknown. A fire caught fire on the third floor of the Art Hotel, which is near Maassilo and Maashaven. The fire brigade is investigating the spread of smoke. “A number of people have left, but there are still people in their rooms.” A security zone spokesman said, “We are looking at if smoke develops and whether the hotel should be completely evacuated.”
Based on the first reports, the firefighters believed that the entire hotel should be evacuated, but that has not yet happened.
There are no delegations or artists participating in the Eurovision Song Contest in the city. Several Rotterdam hotels are filled with the final goal of the Song Festival taking place in Ahoy on Saturday night.
Four people were tested for smoke inhalation, and one had to go to hospital. There were no further reports of injuries. The fire can be seen for miles around. Exactly how and where the fire started is unknown.
