Still busy in Samsung update interface: Galaxy Note 10 finally got a new patch. And the Galaxy A71 is coming sooner than expected.
Galaxy Note 10 April 2023 update
When Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10 in 2019, it was by no means clear that it would be the penultimate generation of its glossy pen phone series. It’s now 2023, and we’re still over three and a half years away. Note 10 still receives security updates: one official per quarter. In practice, unfortunately, it turns out to be wilder.
Since Samsung lowered the frequency — nine months ago — the Note 10 and Note 10+ have received two updates. The latter arrived in February, then brought the January patch. Now is the time, and it can be said that it is time for a new contribution to hardware security.
Fortunately, today it arrives: you can download the over 250MB package, and then install the firmware version N97xFXXS8HWC5. Functionally, not much is happening – that’s normal, more than 3.5 years after its release. But in terms of security, the Galaxy Note 10 (+) is now a lot better so far, thanks to the April 2023 patch.
Galaxy A71 April 2023 update
This is the same patch that is also ready for the Galaxy A71. This device received the update to One UI 5.1 in March. With a frequency of only one official update every six months, we expect the next update only after the summer. But no, you don’t have to wait that long.
A package of around 235MB is available for a few days. Firmware version A715FXXS9DWD1 doesn’t bring major innovations to the A71, but you do get the April patch. With this you can move forward in the coming months.

The update for Note 10 is now available on all models sold in the Netherlands and Belgium. The same goes for the Galaxy A71. As usual, you can wait for your phone to notify itself. But you can also check availability manually via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
