Gary Oldman thinks his acting in ‘Harry Potter’ is ‘average’

The Harry Potter movies are full of the most famous and best actors from the United Kingdom. One of those actors is Gary Oldman, who plays Harry Potter’s godfather Sirius Black. Although fans were happy with Oldman’s role, the actor himself is not satisfied with his performance in the films.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the British actor described his acting as “average.” He regrets not reading the books before taking on the role. He thinks he would have been able to empathize with the role better if he had known what Sirius Black’s fate would be.

“It can always be better”
Oldman: “I think my work in those films is mediocre. If I had read the books and known what was going to happen, I think I would have made different choices as an actor. But I always think when I look at myself that it could have been that way.” “Better. If you say ‘I’m great’ there’s no room for improvement.”

Oldman first played Black in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He would later appear in 3 more Potter films.

Dark and broken
Unlike Oldman, most Harry Potter fans are happy with the actor’s work as Sirius Black. Oldman plays Sirius as a dark and broken man, wrongly accused of the deaths of Harry Potter’s parents. But Oldman also showed the warm side of his character in his scenes with his adopted son, Harry Potter.

Oldman is best known in Hollywood for his villainous roles in films such as Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element And Air Force One. In 2018, the actor won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Winston Churchill in a film Darkest hour.

You can now watch all the Harry Potter movies in 4K HBO Max.
