Maxima vs. Kate: How do you exercise royally?

How do you exercise in style when you’re a member of the royal family? Queen Máxima and Duchess Catherine have completely different views on this matter.

First take a look at Maxima’s appearance in the King’s Games, because then we’ll know what we’re talking about.

On Friday 26 April 2013, the Prince of Orange and (then) Princess Máxima announced the official start of the King’s Games at De Triangle and Het Palette primary schools in Enschede. The princess chose a gray square coat from Chanel. The matching handbag also comes from the French fashion house.

In 2014, the King’s Games were organized in Enns. The Queen was not there, she was an assistant mother during the King’s Games at the Blomkamp School in Wassenaar, at that time the primary school for Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane. King Willem-Alexander wears a pinstriped suit, striped shirt, and orange tie.

The following year the King’s Games were held in Leiden. Now in the presence of Queen Máxima. She was wearing a burgundy skirt with a beige blouse from Natan Fashion House.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima attended part of the King’s Games in Amsterdam on Friday morning, April 22. Maxima wore a pink dress with animal prints from Nathan, and over it a famous coat from Nathan. Her black handbag is from the Belgian brand Delvaux. She completed her outfit with matching pumps from LK Bennett.

For the first time we see a slightly sporty look. The Queen wears a white Nathan blouse with gray wide-leg pants. The striped jacket comes from the fashion series Zara. The King wears a duck-shaped tie designed by Salvatore Ferragamo.

This year the King is alone again in the King’s Games. The Queen is present as a UN special envoy at a meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington.

Once again, the King is alone at the opening of the King’s Games. The Queen is again present at a United Nations meeting.

Unfortunately, the King’s Games cannot be held due to the Coronavirus.

On 23 April 2021, the royal couple will be present at the opening of the King’s Games in Amersfoort. The Queen is wearing a red pantsuit and matching red blouse by Claes Iversen. The floral abaya was designed by Oscar de la Renta. Her flower earrings are from Zara, and the red leather bag is from Delvaux.

The King and Queen will give the starting signal for the King’s Games on April 22 in Delft. Queen Máxima wears a white dress with a long bodice of the same white color over it. Both dresses come from the Massimo Dutti collection. New this year: flat shoes.

It was noted several times in yesterday’s blog that a dress with heels is not immediately appropriate for a sporting event with children. Duchess Catherine does not hesitate to wear sweatpants with sneakers and a comfortable jacket during such an event.

The video shows that exercising is much easier with an athletic appearance. If Queen Máxima had to sport her high-slit dress yesterday, it would have certainly made for some very special photos. On the other hand, many of those attending will only get to see the Queen in person once in their lives, so some conditions and circumstances will be nice. You can indicate below which look you prefer.
