MSI’s Upcoming MEG Z890 Unify-X Motherboard Leaked Ahead of Launch

Official Press Release

Detailed specifications and a slightly blurry slide detailing all the details of MSI’s upcoming high-end MEG Z890 Unify-X motherboard have been leaked. @ChamberTech_ on X/TwitterThe motherboard is likely to appeal to those looking to squeeze every last bit of performance out of the new Ultra 200K series CPU when it launches next month. You get support for memory speeds up to 10,000 MT/s and with just two DIMM slots, it can go even higher with the latest DDR5 CUDIMMs. The board also features a 110A 20+1+1 VRM design on an eight-layer PCB and comes with what MSI calls an OC Tuning Controller, suggesting the board is aimed at overclockers.

MSI has added a pair of PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for the GPUs that are supposed to operate in dual x8 mode when both slots are in use, a third PCIe 4.0 x16 slot that will operate in x4 mode, plus a single PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. There are also no less than six M.2 slots, two PCIe 5.0 and one PCIe 4.0, plus six SATA ports. Things get a bit interesting on the networking front, with the chipset claiming the board has a 5Gbps Intel Killer Ethernet interface, which is the first time we’ve heard of such a thing, plus Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connectivity.

However, connectivity doesn’t stop there, as the board also has a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20Gbps) USB-C connector on the front with 60W USB PD support, and 10 USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) USB ports, two of which are USB Type-C. The Unify-X also has a Realtek ALC4080 audio codec and a pair of legacy PS/2 ports for a keyboard and mouse. Other features include a full set of buttons on the back for flashing and resetting the BIOS, as well as an LED debug display, which MSI seems to prefer to place right next to the power connector, just as we saw in a previous leak of upcoming MSI boards . There’s also the somewhat obscure ATX 3.1 power connector for providing extra power to the GPU, which MSI is the only motherboard manufacturer to have added to its boards so far.
