Samsung is preparing to release Android 15

It won’t be long until Android 15 is released. It’s the major software update of 2024 and comes with a number of useful innovations, such as: Private spaceDetect theft and improve purchase security. As usual, we expect the software to roll out to Google Pixel smartphones first, with other brands following suit.

It’s good to know that different manufacturers put their own skins on the software. Some do it subtly, like Motorola and HMD, others make it completely their own, like Nothing and Samsung. At Samsung, the skin is called One UI and with the launch of Android 15, the manufacturer is also introducing the latest version: One UI 7. Various leaks show that a lot will change.

Design is being fixed.

Samsung’s software is incredibly recognizable, but in One UI 7 the design has been partially overhauled. This is evidenced by a major leak on this tech site Smart Peaks Shared. In particular, Samsung’s app icons look more colorful. The buttons and bars in the menus also get a more rounded shape.

Speaking of menus, the notifications and quick settings menu will also be changed and will be separated. It’s similar to the menu on Xiaomi phones and iPhones: swipe down from the top left? Then your notifications will appear. Swipe from the top right? Then your WiFi settings, brightness, and more will appear.

Dynamic Island Comes to Android

Samsung seems to be copying Apple lately (see also its latest smartwatches and earbuds). The following feature has also been borrowed from the American manufacturer: the dynamic island. Apple calls this the name for the dynamic pop-up windows that are located around the selfie camera hole on its iPhones.

He said Samsung is also working on this. Chun Bai On the X. It’s still unclear how the feature will be implemented. On the iPhone 14 Pro and later, timers, music, and navigation are displayed in the bubble. Live events, such as sports matches, are also shared. The latter also works on the iPhone’s lock screen, and Samsung is said to be working on bringing it to One UI 7 as well. We’re interested in how similar the new features are to Apple’s.

The camera app has been updated.

Samsung smartphones often do well in the camera department, especially now that AI is getting better at post-processing and lighting images. Samsung is also tweaking the camera app with One UI 7. Leaked screenshots show that the manufacturer is focusing on one-handed control. Various settings are often placed at the bottom of the screen. Helpful!

More One UI 7 updates to follow

One UI 7 looks like it has a lot more up its sleeve, like satellite connectivity for sending messages without a range. It’s not known exactly when the Android 15 update will be released with One UI 7. Samsung will start the beta program in the coming weeks, but it’s not immediately available in the Netherlands.
