Casa Mares was built in 1900, but its origins actually go back a few decades ago. After the constant infestation of insects that devastated agriculture in Soller and the surrounding area, many residents went to try their luck in France. But the next generation really returned to the hematites when oranges began to be grown so well in Spain.
Orange gold brought prosperity and elegant homes were built here and there with plenty of French influences picked up by the owners during their stay. This resulted in a unique architecture in which you get to know the typical elements of both the island and Provence. In this particular context, dedicated project developer Berrow Projects recently introduced all the modern amenities needed during a comprehensive renovation.
The kitchen and bathrooms fit perfectly into the original picture using the same materials used before. The rest was carefully decorated. The fireplace and stone floor in the quarry refer to the original house, but it’s new because the old one no longer works.
The garden with a heated saltwater pool and its connection to the house complete the living experience and holiday feeling. Green mountains make a picturesque backdrop if you look outside from the four bedrooms or look out over the surroundings from the rooftop terrace.
