Eid al-Fitr, the Feast of Sugar, is scheduled to be recorded on Monday, May 2 this year. This was stated by the Executive Authority of Muslims of Belgium (EMB) after a meeting of the Council of Religious Scholars.
The Executive Director of Muslims in Belgium (EMB) invites Muslims to “share this festive moment with family, neighbors and friends of all faiths, in an atmosphere of peace and love”. Eid al-Fitr is one of the biggest holidays of the year in Islam. This festival celebrates the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
During Ramadan, Muslim believers are not allowed to eat, drink, smoke or have intercourse for a month between sunrise and sunset. One wants to purify the soul by fasting, thank God. When this period is over, they celebrate together.
Sugar Festival is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal this year on the second of May. Shawwal is the tenth month in the Islamic calendar. The Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle. The first day of the new month is the day on which the new moon becomes visible.
