Sarah Darling drops new song and video titled “Pretender”

Sarah Darling has released “Pretender,” the third single from her upcoming EP. One is here Available worldwide on all streaming services. A new video clip with Sarah, filmed in Arizona and produced by Tara Diorio from Velvet Sky Films, accompanies the single.

Sarah Darling, close friend and collaborator Emily Shackleton, co-wrote “Pretender,” and Cameron James, who also served as co-producers. “Pretender,” a contemporary New Country song with a cool California vibe, tells the story of a lesson learned. “When I wrote this song, I was thinking about the kind of selfish lover that keeps you tied up. They give you just enough to make you believe in the relationship, but for them it’s game more. They have the power and don’t care who their heart breaks. There’s a youthful idealism seeping away in the memory of this song,” Darling offers.

“Pretender” is the latest song from Darling’s upcoming new EP. The previous two singles, “Song Still Gets Me” and “Waves,” were released on January 3 and October 22, respectively. The music videos for both previous singles were featured on CMT Music 12-Pack Listener-Voted-Voted Countdown. “Waves” reached number seven, and “Song Still Gets Me” took second place in the week of January 14. All three singles will be included in Darling’s new EP, scheduled for release in Spring 2022. The EP will be her first new group since the UK/Europe-focused Project Wonderland, released in June 2019, which this year took home the country #1 slot album on the UK’s official state charts.

Returning to her home in Nashville from the UK in late 2019, Sarah Darling confirmed her country roots. Reflecting on the favorite stories of female artists who had a special impact in their careers, Darling recorded a series of classic covers for a project called The Campfire Sessions, which included timeless features such as ‘Leave the Pieces’ (The Wreckers), ‘Cowboy Take Me Away (Chicks)’. and “Dreams” (Stevie Nicks). Now, as she prepares to begin her 2022 US tour starting in April, Darling is looking to “push it forward” and plans to introduce her audience to some of the most prominent female thunderbolts.
