If you can’t fall asleep right away, Alies Coster has a tip: “If you still haven’t fallen asleep after about thirty minutes, it’s smart to get out of bed for a while. Then it’s time to go back to bed.”

If you wake up tired over and over again, you probably aren’t getting a good night’s sleep. They can have different causes: you may have slept too little, but it may also be that you slept too lightly. “You can also wake up tired because you don’t get up at the same time every day,” says Alice Koster. “If you do, your body knows it and starts producing cortisol around that time. The stress hormone ensures that you wake up energized.”
