Sony has announced that the first 1,000 tracks in 360 Reality Audio format will be available from the end of October. These songs include tracks by Cabello, Mark Ronson, Pharrell Williams and more, via streaming services Amazon Music HD, Deezer, nugs.net and TIDAL.

The content will initially be available to consumers in America, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

The 360 Reality audio codec allows producers and artists to create a 360-degree music experience. Elements such as location, distance and angle of instruments in the studio, for example, are included in audio recordings. This results in a musical experience similar to attending a live concert.

Sony collaborates with music companies (Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group), Live Nation, music distribution services and other music organizations to build a music ecosystem.

Sony provides special recording equipment to create 360 Reality Audio content. There is also extensive cooperation with music companies to prepare producers and artists. Existing audio recordings (recorded in multiple tracks) can be converted to a 360 Reality Audio compatible format.

Sony is working with Live Nation and the three major record labels to add more 360 Reality Audio content in 2020. Sony is also working with studios to develop a content creation space. The studios currently participating in the US are Battery Studios, Chiller Sound and Live Nation Content Studio and in the UK Crypt Studio is participating.
