“The story of saving cats is not fodder for a console gamer.”

Since this year I have been a proud cat owner. Needless to say, I became very attached to this. Therefore, I have great respect for the people who work every day to rescue and care for cats and animals in general. In Cat Rescue Story, you play a virtual role as the owner of a cat shelter. You can read whether it was a fun time in this review of Cat Rescue Story.

Why okay?
Rescue cats

As the name suggests, Cat Rescue Story is about saving kittens. This means that you take care of the cats in your DIY cat shelter, feeding them and playing with them until you find them a new warm home. In the game menu, you can see people who are currently interested in adopting a kitten. Each of these people has a number of preferences such as the cat’s gender, breed (and perhaps color), and personality traits that the cat should meet.

You can unlock these personality traits by increasing your relationship with the cat. In order for a cat to be adopted, it must meet at least one of the required preferences. Each preference results in a certain reward. In Cat Rescue Story, you can rescue more than fifty different breeds of cats. These include a number of very rare breeds.

For children and animals

Although I enjoyed a few hours with Cat Rescue Story, I don’t belong to the game’s target audience. It is a typical toy that can keep young children calm for a few hours. It’s also the perfect game to introduce the younger ones among us to gaming.

It was also fun to see my cat, Siri, experiencing the game in her own way every time I played. She stood in front of the television with great interest, watching everything that appeared on the screen. So you can safely say that the cat sounds from the game imitate reality.

Why not?
Mobile game

Cat Rescue Story was first released in 2023 for Android and iOS. Eighteen months later, the game also found its way to consoles. However, it is clear from the first second that you are actually playing a game on mobile, but using a controller and on a TV. As mentioned earlier in the review, console players aren’t really the target group for this game.

It’s the kind of game you’ll see your kids playing on a tablet or smartphone. And thanks to the repetitive gameplay, it’s also not a game you’ll play for hours on end. Additionally, the console version costs €39.99 while the mobile version of the game is free. So it would be crazy to pay almost forty euros for this game.

I should note that the mobile version of the game has microtransactions. This is not the case with the console version.

Tractor

The cat rescue story is not fodder for the console gamer. The game was released in 2023 for Android and iOS and is at its best there. On the one hand, the mobile version of the game is completely free, while on console you have to pay 39.99 euros. On the other hand, Cat Rescue Story is not a game that will keep you busy for hours on end. It’s a repetitive game that can be fun for half an hour. For me, it’s the perfect game to play on a smartphone on the go. However, it can be the perfect introductory game to introduce the younger among us to the wonderful world of gaming.

High_LordWolnir lost his soul(s) somewhere between Boletaria and Castle Lothric. When he escapes the Nexus for a while, you can find him behind his PC or PlayStation console playing a good RPG, a story-driven action/adventure game, an exciting horror game or a Call of Duty-style FPS. Moreover, he must be about the only person on the planet who rated The Last of Us Part II higher than its predecessor.
