The studio behind Halo is working on several games in the series

Microsoft has surprised friends and foes with new announcements regarding the Halo franchise. The studio behind the series, 343 Industries, will no longer exist, as the company will now be known as Halo Studios. Fortunately, the new developer already has several Halo projects in the works.

Why did the name change? According to studio head Pierre Hintz, there have been two clear chapters within the Halo series in the past. The first chapter was presented by Bungie, while the second chapter was written by 343 Industries. Since fans always want more Halo, 343 Industries has changed its name to Halo Studios: Chapter 3 Beginning.

Halo Studios is turning to Unreal Engine 5 for development of all future Halo games. Not only because the studio wants to make game development more efficient, but also because it slightly tweaks the Halo game development recipe. Don’t panic though, because that’s it traditions and Story beats It is kept.

To develop Halo Infinite, 343 companies are still using it At home Sliding drive. Although the studio thought it was armed for the future with this engine as a basis, this was not the case. Constant updates to this engine gave developers less time to spend on efficient Halo games. Since Unreal Engine 5 offered many advantages that the Slipspace Engine did not have, the decision to switch was made quickly.

Unreal Engine 5 gives developers the opportunity to devote more time to the actual development of Halo games. And that’s in the highest possible quality, thanks to UE5’s Lumen and Nanite technologies.
