The United States and the European Union have been disappointed in progress talks on the Iran nuclear deal in Doha

Two days after the international nuclear deal with Iran in Qatar, the United States and the European Union have expressed disappointment. They say there is very little progress.

US Ambassador to Iran Robert Malley and Iranian negotiator Ali Bakery began indirect talks with the European Union on Tuesday in Doha to block Vienna’s talks on Iran’s nuclear program. The talks, which began in April 2021, are aimed at reuniting the United States with the Iran nuclear deal signed in 2015, and Iran must abide by all the terms of that agreement.

As a reminder, former President Donald Trump unilaterally excluded the United States from the agreement in 2018, which was also signed with China, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, after which Tehran realized that it was not bound by these terms. Expanded the treaty and its nuclear program.

“Indirect talks in Doha are over, and we are disappointed that Iran has again refused to respond favorably to the EU initiative, with no progress as a result,” a US State Department spokesman said. He said Iran was not ready to make a fundamental decision on whether to renew the agreement.

The EU is also disappointed. Unfortunately, the EU panel as co-ordinator did not make the expected progress. We will continue to work with greater urgency to get the important agreement on decentralization and regional stability back on track, “said Enrique Mora, chief negotiator on Twitter.

Iran says it is serious about its commitment to concluding a deal, but does not want to cross the Red Fort.
