The United States government calls for no storage of gasoline

US Economy Minister Jennifer Granholm has called on her citizens not to hoard gasoline. A large number of Americans flocked to the east coast to petrol stations on Tuesday, fearing shortages.

The rush to the pump is connected to the Colonial Pipeline, a pipeline that runs from the Gulf of Mexico in the southern United States to the eastern coast for a distance of more than 8,850 kilometers. The command was closed after a cyber attack last Friday. Many Americans fear fuel shortages because of this.

According to a specialist website that monitors fuel prices at gas stations, GasBuddy, about 30 percent of gas stations around the major cities in North Carolina – Atlanta, Raleigh, and Charlotte – are without gas. Statewide, the figure is over 10 percent, the site reported Tuesday evening local time. In Virginia it is 8%, in Georgia 6.9% and in South Carolina it is 4.7%.

According to Minister Granholm, there are no reasons for hoarding. They say it’s a problem with the supply, not a shortage of fuel. “We have gas, we just have to get it at the right place.”
