Completely bezel-less iPhone: How long will it take?

The iPhone 15 still has bezels around the screen, and there’s a dynamic island at the top. The selfie camera is hidden in this black bar. But how long will it take before Apple fully transitions to a bezel-less iPhone, without the Dynamic Island or notch?

Well, it will take some time, but Apple device developers have already started making an under-display camera. This new camera is an under-display camera (UDC) and does not have a visible hole in the display like the current camera of the iPhone 15 still does. This would fit perfectly over a bezel-less iPhone.

There are some drawbacks to the under-screen camera. Since the image to be taken must first pass through the smartphone screen, the camera receives much less light. This can result in poor image quality for photos and videos.

To compensate for this, a new lens system was invented. This system has multiple lenses and is more sensitive to light. Manufacturers (LG) have been filing patents related to this regularly since December 2022. This will increase now that development has already begun.

They’re trying to increase the camera’s light transmittance to 20 percent by 2023. By 2024, that should reach about 40 percent, which would put them close to Apple’s desires.

Before placing the camera under the screen, it is expected that Face ID will first be given a place under the screen. According to rumours, this will be present on the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025. This model still has a round hole at the top of the screen. According to analyst Ross Young, Apple will next place the iPhone Pro models’ cameras under the display in 2027. Around that time, you can also expect the first completely bezel-less iPhone to appear.
