Former Jumbo CEO and racing driver Frits van Eerd must appear in court. Max Verstappen's former sponsor became discredited in 2022 when it became known he may have been involved in a money laundering case. Justice will now try him on charges of corruption and forgery.
In September 2022, Van Eerd's home was raided. This caused a massive riot and Van Eerd resigned as CEO of the Jumbo supermarket chain. The Public Prosecution Office in North Holland will now prosecute him on charges of corruption and forgery. In addition, they also reported that the investigation into him has not yet been completed.
