Yooka-Laylee remastered for PS5, Xbox Series, and…Nintendo

The developer, Playtonic Games, announced this Yuka Replaya remaster of 2017’s Yooka-Laylee, is in development for PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo, and PC. Notably, the studio did not explicitly state that the game is coming to Nintendo Switch, so a remaster may be in the works for Switch 2.

According to Playtonic Games, Yooka-Replaylee is the definitive and remastered version of the 3D platformer created by the team behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country. The title offers challenges old and new in the vast and colorful world of Yooka and Laylee. The remastered version will feature an orchestral soundtrack, a brand new map, a new in-game currency, and many more customization options.

On the official website Playtonic Games indicates that the remaster is coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo, but not necessarily on Switch. The developer promises to unravel the mystery soon. It is possible that the studio here hints at the arrival of the new Nintendo Switch console.

In Yooka-Replaylee, the villain Capital B wants to steal and sell all the books in the world. But the most powerful book on the planet is at Shipwreck Creek, where Yooka and Laylee live. When their favorite book is stolen, they go on an adventure to get it back. This takes them to many vibrant worlds.

There is no official release date for Yooka-Replaylee yet, but the game is expected to be released in 2025.
